She gained the attention of the world in 2010 with her singles "Starry Eyed" and "Guns and Horses" British vocalist Ellie Goulding rapidly rose to the top of the charts due to her infectious electronic pop sound. Although she started out writing songs in a folk-inflected style, she eventually grew into a more electronic-influenced artist, touching upon dance music and ambient synth pop. Goulding is at the cutting edge as are Kate Bush and Imogen Sheap of popular contemporary music and of independent, hip-hop that is arty. Her soprano voice and talent for writing emotional songs is what makes her distinct. Polydor Records signed her to a record label deal and she was preparing the release of her debut album.
